In order to confirm its leadership, the company is offering a unique opportunity to a valuable candidate to develop a business in its own country. PROTEM will support this office by providing with all the necessary equipment and the administrative structure required. The candidate shall have a technical and/or a mechanical background (engineer or equivalent through his professional experience). He/she is ideally familiar with either the nuclear industry or the oil and gas industry or is in connection with the industry that has to deal with machining or welding. He/she will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Sales Manager of the company. Besides his native language, the candidate will have to speak and write English fluently. Remotely operated equipment: Sodium reactor decommissioning




 

Application:

Shutdown of a sodium nuclear reactor.

Progress of work:
This machine has been developed and created in order to cut internal and external parts of the reactor in calibrated pieces so that those can be disposed in special containers.

Description:
The whole machine consists of a precision bridge that positions the cutting tools into the right working position in the reactor, and a control desk that is outside of the contaminated area. For the different steps of machining many different parts of this machine are operated by a remote control one after another.

Solution:
This machine centralises itself with the help of 8 hydraulic operated clamping plates. The machining is done via 3 different cutting bits. Four electric operated machining axes for all different cutting positions are available. The tool rotation is hydraulic. Information about the cutting process as well as about any positioning will be shown on a control screen.

    PROTEM grooving bench allows to perform grooving or milling works on flanges or on sheets, on site or in workshops.
    According to the needs, it can work flat or in vertical axis. Thanks to its clamping system and its adjustable feet,
