In order to confirm its leadership, the company is offering a unique opportunity to a valuable candidate to develop a business in its own country. PROTEM will support this office by providing with all the necessary equipment and the administrative structure required. The candidate shall have a technical and/or a mechanical background (engineer or equivalent through his professional experience). He/she is ideally familiar with either the nuclear industry or the oil and gas industry or is in connection with the industry that has to deal with machining or welding. He/she will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Sales Manager of the company. Besides his native language, the candidate will have to speak and write English fluently. WHEEL CUTTING OF WASTE DRUMS




 

APPLICATION:
Removal of the second drum lid for waste disposal and compaction. Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing Plant.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

  • Chipless cutting of the lid.
  • Piling up in a container.
  • Automatic cycle.

FUNCTIONING:

The wheel cutting machine is delivered with a lid removal frame and a maintenance frame.
The machine is positioned into the drum with a crane and handled from one station to another.

SOLUTIONS ADOPTED:

  • Wheel cutting
  • The machine is clamped onto the drum through 3 PROTEM jacks (jaw + wheel and wormscrew).
  • The revolving plate incorporating the wheel-holder carriage rotates through an asynchronous drive.
  • An electric vacuum pump allows to grasp the cut off lid through 12 silicon pads fixed on a traverse motion plate
  • The wheel lowering is governed by the automate via a linear potentiometer.

    Running principle

    PROTEM grooving bench allows to perform grooving or milling works on flanges or on sheets, on site or in workshops.
    According to the needs, it can work flat or in vertical axis. Thanks to its clamping system and its adjustable feet,
