PROTEM has been created in 1980. Its engineers have immediately been aware of the importance of the quality of an excellent weld preparation.
They have met more and more requests for such equipment ; at a time, when the operators were performing manually preparations with grinders, this type of equipment represented a spectacular development.
Consequently, as its customers' interest was growing, PROTEM developed a range of bevelling machines from which was also designed the range of flange surfacing machines, orbital cutting machines, facing machines...
The range of portable machining equipment included then products which allowed PROTEM to establish itself definitively on the market of conventional but also nuclear power stations, and more generally on the market of all the industries requiring an excellent weld preparation.
Other companies tried to exploit this booming market by creating their own range. None managed to ensure a continuous development of its products
and then prove its ability to adapt to a market which is perpetually renewing.PROTEM showed its technical ability, the reliability of its products and above anything, the comprehension of its customers' real needs.
Unlike its competitors, who mainly approach this market in a commercial way, PROTEM positions itself as a company offering great technical competences
and able to understand the technical, economical and qualitative requirements.
This technical competence unanimously recognized brought PROTEM to become the favoured partner of all the actors within the following fields : nuclear, oil & gas, shipbuilding, chemical, petrochemical, food industry, tube industry, semiconductor, pharmacy...

The special machines are more specific equipment for machining or welding operations. Each machine is specially adapted to the customer´s particular need which would not meet a solution to his specification within the standard range.
The machines designed and manufactured by PROTEM, can be remotely or/and digitally controlled and operated.
Prefabrication equipment :
PROTEM offers a complete range of equipment dedicated to the companies acting in the oil & gas field.
Those machines allow to perform welding preparation by carrying out high speed bevelling operations on tubes with diameters until 72 inches.

PROTEM designs equipment for the construction, maintenance and dismantling of nuclear installations and components.
